After years of using single color unisuits, we were given the chance to work with a new supplier in late 2018. The Brazilian National Rowing Team was going to compete at the Qualification Regatta for the 2019 Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro, and that was the perfect opportunity to present a new design.
The new polyester and elastane fabric could be printed using dye sublimation, which was not possible with the previously used fabric. Inspired by modern sportswear clothing, I created a striped unisuit using different shades of green.
The traditional yellow and green used in Brazilian uniforms was left behind for a new shade of green that was used for the first time at the 2016 Olympics. The dark to light gradient creates movement and highlights the athlete’s upper body when they are on the boat.
